Welcome Scripts for Online Church Videos

Steve Dirks

Here are some helpful scripts for you to use in your Online Worship Experience. These tips will help you connect with your online audience and engage with them.

Here is a simple welcome script for your teaching pastor to use on stage in the room and for the stream.

“Hey everyone who is in the room with us today and everyone joining us online, Welcome to [Your church name here]. Thank you for being with us today! We are so grateful that God has brought you to us today. We feel that God has something specific that He wants to say to you today no matter where you are. We would love to connect with you, if you are online we have a team waiting to connect with you. If you are here in the room with us today we have a connect team standing by [tell them where people can go meet someone]. Let’s pray as we dive into the word of God today.”

Here are some scripts and prompts for your Online Pastors and Hosts to use.

WELCOME:

“We are so thankful you are tuning in to watch us online today! We would love for you to do a couple of things for us.

  1. Connect with us in the chat and tell us where you are watching from.
  2. Share any notes or highlights that God impresses on your heart today.
  3. At the end of the service let us know if there is a next step that we can do to help you walk into.

We are really excited about what God has to say through [teaching pastor and their title, position – intro your teacher for the day]. We will get started here shortly.

WATCH PARTY: (near the end of the countdown)

“Hey guys, thanks for joining us today, would you take a minute and share this stream on your facebook by starting a watch party so that your friends can join you in watching today’s service?”

OPEN WORSHIP:

“Hey everyone, in Psalm 65:8 says, ‘The whole earth is filled with awe at your wonders; where morning dawns, where evening fades, you call forth songs of joy.’ Today another opportunity has dawned and we have the joy to worship our Savior today. He is calling each one of us to enter into worship with him. Leave behind the baggage and just enter into His presence today.”

GIVING:

“Guys, today we have the opportunity to still be a part of supporting the ministry of our church. If you want to give today you can do so here [provide a simple step to give, Text is Preferred here or a short URL to give online].”

TRANSITION FROM WORSHIP TO THE MESSAGE:

“Wow, [share a specific moment from worship and how that impacted you]. I can’t wait to get into the word of God and hear what our pastor has to say. Please share anything God impresses on your heart and if you have any questions our team is standing by to pray and meet with you.”

DURING THE MESSAGE:

Provide the sermon notes in the online worship experience. If your pastor has this before Sunday, get it prepped. If not, then listen and respond to the sermon points so that people can see those throughout the message. Put major points in the chat with encouragement texts like, “That’s really encouraging that God is for us even in times of doubt.”

RESPOND at the END OF THE MESSAGE:

“God show me this today [share a specific takeaway for you today]. What did God say to you today? Is there something God is leading you to do that we can help you with?

Is God calling you to accept the good news that Jesus has died in your place?

Is God calling you to take a step into greater obedience?

Baptism? Tithing? Forgiving? Is there other sin you need to repent and move away from?

How does what God said to you today impact this next week in your life?”

CLOSING:

Thank you for joining us today at [your church name here]. We are so grateful we could worship together even as we are separated by distance. We would love to worship together in person. Our next worship services are[tell when  your next broadcasts are]. If you can make it in person we would love to meet you. If not we will be right here as well and we can’t wait to gather again.

[Write a short prayer for the online community, benediction, scripture closing]

As we leave today we pray Ephesians 3:20-21 over you today and this week:

Now all glory to God, who is able, through his mighty power at work within us, to accomplish infinitely more than we might ask or think. Glory to him in the church and in Christ Jesus through all generations forever and ever! Amen.

Make it a great week guys! Let us know how we can be praying for you. [Provide another option for people to connect when you stream goes offline]
